Sinus conditions — including chronic sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, and sinus-related headaches — affect a large percentage of the population and significantly impact quality of life. Conventional treatment typically focuses on medication management: antihistamines, decongestants, nasal steroids. These can be helpful, but they address symptoms rather than the underlying physiological contributors.
Chiropractic care and craniosacral therapy offer a complementary approach that addresses some of those contributors directly.
How Chiropractic Helps
The nerves that regulate sinus function originate in the upper cervical spine. Dysfunction in this area — restricted joint motion, muscle tension, postural stress — can interfere with the neurological control of sinus drainage and mucous membrane function. Chiropractic adjustment of the upper cervical spine and cranial bones can restore proper neurological input to the sinuses, supporting better drainage and reduced congestion.
Craniosacral therapy is particularly effective for sinus conditions, working with the subtle motions of the cranial bones to reduce restrictions that impede sinus drainage. Many patients who have struggled with chronic sinus pressure and headaches report significant relief after a course of craniosacral therapy.
We are not proposing chiropractic care as a replacement for appropriate medical management of sinus conditions. We are offering it as an evidence-informed complement that addresses physiological factors often left unaddressed by medication alone.
