Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a condition that causes pain, numbness, and tingling in the wrist and into the hand and fingers. The most common causes of CTS are activities that put stress on the wrist by requiring repetitive flexion and extension in unsupported or improperly supported positions such as typing on a keyboard. This stress causes inflammation, swelling, and eventually the production of scar tissue in the wrist.

Chiropractic treatment helps CTS by breaking up the scar tissue, removing the adhesions between carpal bones, and decreasing the inflammation to the area, which allows the nerve to heal. Exercises are then given to strengthen and support the wrist so the condition does not reoccur.

Most cases of CTS respond to conservative chiropractic treatment; so before going into surgery, try chiropractic therapy first!
