Treat Back Pain

Back pain can be very painful and debilitating or mild and annoying, but either way it is something that needs to be resolved quickly to return to a pain-free lifestyle.

There can be many different causes of back pain, some more serious than others. Chiropractors are trained to recognize all of these causes, so if the injury or condition is more serious and we cannot treat it, we can refer to someone who can. However, most sources of back pain are treatable by chiropractic. Therefore, if you are suffering from serious or mild back pain, come see a chiropractor and stop living with back pain.

Remember, if a back injury does not need surgery there are only three things most medical doctors can do: prescribe pain medication, prescribe muscle relaxers, and refer for physical therapy. The problem with prescribing medication is that it may not facilitate tissue healing and, in some cases, may actually slow tissue healing because it blocks pain receptors and can allow the injury to get worse. Physical therapy is very helpful for non-surgical injuries, but it often requires a prescription for the same therapy that can be obtained from a chiropractor without a prescription. In addition, physical therapy does not include adjusting, which is very beneficial when it comes to tissue healing.

Note: Some health insurance companies require a referral from a primary care physician before paying for chiropractic treatment, so be sure to check your health plan benefits.
